Children and adolescents are the forgotten victims of AIDS. Every minute, one child dies from the aftereffects of immune deficiency, that is 500.000 a year. Only a fractional amount of them receives medical support.
Daily, 7.500 young people below the age of 24 are infected with HIV. And the disease is spreading rapidly.
15 million children worldwide have become orphans because of AIDS – the same number of children living in all of Germany. But the worst is yet to come: Given the enormous amount of infected adults, until the year 2025, the number of AIDS orphaned children will increase up to 25 million.
